What does the EU IN/OUT really mean? June the 23rd is when the citizens of the UK will vote to stay in or leave the EU. So let us be clear, they are actually voting on whether to leave or stay within the European Union and be governed in part by the European Parliament, they cannot vote to leave Europe.
Why are we making that point? The UK will always be in Europe in much the same way as Switzerland is. Switzerland is not a member of the European Union but it is a member of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). That means that the citizens of Switzerland enjoy the same freedom of movement as all EU citizens.
So how does “in or out” affect the residential status of all those who have retired to Spain? “In” of course means nothing has changed and “Out” means they should be treated the same as the Swiss as far as we can tell. There are many citizens from Switzerland who are happily retired here in Spain.
This is what is on the UK GOV web site about countries that are not currently in the EU.
The European Economic Area (EEA) The EEA includes EU countries and also Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It allows them to be part of the EU’s single market. Switzerland is neither an EU nor EEA member but is part of the single market – this means Swiss nationals have the same rights to live and work in the UK as other EEA nationals.
For us it is clear. In or out, the UK should be like Switzerland and Norway, which means we British should have the same rights as we do now to live in an EU country such as Spain. One thing is certain, The Spanish Government wants us here. This is because retirees from the UK bring with them their UK pensions to spend in their country and do not rely on the Spanish state for anything.
This is what the BBC makes of the situation and backs up our line of thought should the referendum return a NO vote. Switzerland is the example on how it could all work out.

What a great show. The NEC show last weekend was a huge success with many people taking the opportunity to speak to Martin at the Willerby homes stand and ask him all the questions they had. On more than one occasion Martin was talking to six people all interested in Spain in one of the display models at the same time.
It was wonderful experience and a pleasure to see the visitors gel with each other as the questions flowed. Better still was some of the visitors had already been on a visit and where able to describe the parks in their own words.
This was ideal for those who had not seen the parks yet. They were able to get a feel for the parks from a visitors point of view. Four inspection visits were also booked during the show thanks to Martin having his laptop and a good WiFi connection. Martin is now looking forward to the next show.
The next big show he will be attending will be the Lawns Show near Hull on the 3rd and 4th of September. Again he will be at the Willerby Homes display and this year we plan to be there with a brand new show concept based on the NEC experience.
Between now and then however we will be giving away 5 free tickets every month to one of the future shows. Lots of people enjoyed the competition we did last month for the free NEC tickets. For that reason we will continue with the idea.
So, to go into the draw for this month’s 5 free tickets for the Lawns Caravan show in September you will need to reply to this e-mail with the answer to the following question.
Question/ If you put the name of a US state capital before a certain Willerby mobile home model you will get the name of a music album released in 1969. What is the name of the artist who recorded it?
It is a real stinker, so it should be a lot of fun for those who love a GOOGLE challenge. The tickets will roll over into next month if we do not get at least 5 correct answers.

Easter in Spain: Easter is fast approaching and here in Spain it lasts a complete week. Residents will enjoy the whole experience. Spain is famous for the parades they do in all the villages. These parades take place over several days with bands and statues of the Virgin and Jesus going round the village.
The Spanish people really take Easter (Semana Santa) seriously. For them it is not simply a holiday. For the children it is not all about waiting for an Easter egg. The Easter parades in the villages take place on Thursday, Friday and the Sunday. They are very colourful and enjoyed by all the villagers as well of course by all the residents. What also makes this time of year also special is the fact that family from the UK love to come and visit in order to get rid of the winter blues. Easter sunshine is wonderful.

Spanish you will hear: Living in real Spain is one huge part of the retirement lifestyle (it is not all about park life), so why not let us help you in advance to understand a few words that the residents hear all the time when they venture into real Spain, which as you already know begins as soon as they leave the park.
For this month, we are going to use an informal phrase (Spanish have formal and informal) because nearly everyone will understand why a resident is being friendly and informal.
The phrase this month is ¿Cómo te llamas? What is your name? pronounced “KOH-moh te YA-maas”
Now the fun part. On both parks there are Spanish staff who speak perfect English. They are the best people to practise on. If you go to Emily in reception for example and ask in Spanish “what is your name?” for sure she will give any name but her real name. But you will know you asked correctly. Why, because of the big grin she will give you.

The flights trick: We have lots of new subscribers which is why we are repeating this trick. Our four day three night visits to either Park La Posada or Paradise Park are great value at only £79 per person including airport transfers and hotel accommodation. What makes them even more special however is when you get some great flights as well.
We all know that flights go through the roof at Easter but that also means there are some bargains straight afterwards. That means the 2nd and 3rd weeks in April are prime for checking flights. A great time of year to enjoy a short break to see a park and area and get a full understanding of what it will be like to retire to Spain and live on a mobile home park.
We quite often use a flight comparison site to search all the low cost carriers at the same time. http://www.momondo.co.uk/ is regarded as one of the best in the UK.
Timing is everything when booking flights and choosing a time to visit straight after the airline companies have just has a few bumper days is perfect. Find your low cost flights first and then give us a ring. We will confirm straight away that we can make the arrangements this end. Once booked you will have a few wonderful days to look forward to.
To visit Park La Posada you will need to find flights to and from Malaga. To visit Paradise Park, you will need to find flights to and from Alicante. Good luck in finding some great flights.
