MOBILE HOME IN SPAIN NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE JUNE 2017
Health care: As many people who have been on a visit to the parks will tell you we always say if you are going to be ill, be ill in Spain. The health care system in Spain is wonderful, and now we have proof that what we are saying is true. In May the Lancet medical journal published a table of health care objectives and how each country was doing. Spain came in 8th in the world and the UK came in 30th in the world. What a big change from the 70’s when Spain first became the holiday destination.
Spain is still the holiday destination of choice for many in the UK but it has also developed over the years to being the country of choice to retire to as well. Dedicated retirement parks offer registered residents the chance to access the wonderful health care service if they ever need to. The better weather and healthy lifestyle is probably one of the biggest reasons the Spanish health care system is not stretched to the limits.
>>> The residents know how good the health care is <<<
The Windsor Deluxe Park Lodge has arrived: It was a very proud moment for Martin who designed this brand-new Park Lodge Home model inside and out. Inside it has the best features of many UK models on the market except now all under one roof. A master bedroom that uses the whole width of the home. An en-suit full bathroom that does not feel like going into a broom cupboard. A walk-in wardrobe in the master which is the only bedroom used all the time.
It has been agreed with the factory that the standard Windsor model can be tweaked by clients to suit how they would like their model to look. There is a good choice of outside cladding. They can choose different flooring, worktops and colours inside. Clients can also change the furniture and even add lift up storage beds as optional extras.
More exciting news is that during a visit to the factory in Alicante last month Martin and Damian redesigned the Jack & Jill bathroom concept and so a new model has been designed using for the first time a bathroom with two access doors (known as Jack & Jill), previously a “NO” from Martin from a privacy point of view. The new design still uses two doors for access from the bedroom or hall but the privacy aspect has been sorted 100% thanks to a clever new door design. We have given the new system a name and have applied for a trade mark.

Willerby mobile homes: Certain model mobile homes made by Willerby in the UK are installed on Park La Posada free of charge. These are the Avonmore, Winchester, Aspen, Linear and the Vogue. That makes pricing a home to go onto Park La Posada very easy. First thing you need to do is to go to the Willerby website and check out the UK price of the home you fancy. You can add what extras you want at the time and it changes the price straight away online. For homes that have a French Door added we will upgrade it to full residential specification FREE of charge.
Next, we need to get your chosen model from Hull in the UK to the park in Spain. As you can imagine that is a logistical feat as it must cross water. The task is done in three legs. The factory in Hull to the port (227 miles) is carried out by a transporter in Hull that has been moving mobile homes for years. From there is goes by ship to the port in Spain (780 miles) and the shipping company has a lot of experience as well in transporting mobile homes. Finally, from the port in Spain to the park (593 miles) is where it changes.
The last part is the most important part as that is when the home is on the transporter the longest and furthest. For that we use a specialist company here in Spain that has developed a system of transporting the bigger mobile homes in a way that supports the home better on the transporter. Their system takes time when loading and unloading and so it is a job that cannot be rushed. A special low loader trailer is used. This also helps with the many tunnels along the route.
When you add all the three stages together it comes to £6650.00 plus VAT making it £7980.00 in total. Add that to the price of your chosen model from Willerby and you have a fixed price from the factory to the park that includes standard installation on Park la Posada.
>>> Gas installation is not included as that is done by the gas company <<<
Ex-Pat: Patrick otherwise known as Ex-Pat on the park was feeling down in the dumps one day as his trusty laptop had given up the ghost and being so old was not worth repairing. “What do you use your laptop for” asked John who is into things technical and is known as Mr Sort It on the park. “Browsing, online e-mailing and skyping” Ex-Pat replied. “Well that is easy” said John, “go to “Laptops Direct” and buy a cheapie for less than £200. They only charge £19.95 to deliver it to Spain. What is more it will have everything in English”.
Ex-Pats face lit up big time, “less than £200?” he asked. “Sure” said John and with that they went back to his house to order one. Half an hour later Ex-Pat had learnt a lot. He did not need an all singing all dancing laptop. He had learnt all about buying external storage to use as and when he needed it, and of course ordered a unit with John’s help to suit his needs.
What did he order? He ordered a refurbished HP Stream 11.6″ Intel Celeron Windows 10 Laptop and he paid £148.97 for it and £19.95 to have it delivered to the park. John also lent him his old back up laptop to use until his new one arrived. “That is a pint you owe me Ex-Pat” said John as he handed over the back up laptop. In fact, he got two pints. One that night as Ex-Pat was in the bar telling everyone about ordering his new laptop, and a second on the day it arrived. And yes, John helped him set everything up.
>>> Now you can also follow Ex-Pat on Twitter. Can you find him? <<<
Park Visits: Get in quick folks before the air fares hit the roof for the school holidays in July and August. Better still get in a June holiday here in Spain (near the park you fancy of course) and use our one day collection service to show the parks and area. After that we calm down for July and August due to the cost of flights. Seeing the parks before September is a great idea if you are also thinking of coming to the Hull or Beaulieu shows.
Park visits and the shows are all about information and when you combine the two you are getting the best of both worlds. You can plan for years ahead because you will know the concept fully. That is why we attend the two biggest mobile home shows in the UK in September. To answer all the questions about the park home lifestyle and to explain the differences between dedicated residential parks and joint camping/mobile home parks.
It is also great that we can show the advantages in certain model homes. Not as a salesman of course but as an expert on what is better for a park in Spain. It leaves visitors with a much better idea what to look out for in the future. That also goes for resale mobile homes because they come with so much more in extras such as a full-size decking. Keeping an eye on what comes up for sale is always so much better once you have seen the park
>>> New or resale there is a great choice <<<
Drink driving: With summer now on the doorstep a cool beer tastes even better. Sitting by the pool chatting and supping is so relaxing. So is enjoying lunch outside. However, spare a thought for the drink driving aspect. Spain has a lower drink driving limit than that the UK. In the UK it is 80mg per 100ml of blood and Spain is 50mg per 100ml.
Living on the park makes life so easy because there is everything you need to really enjoy life. However, driving to the village later in the evening to get some supplies after enjoying a pleasant lunch can get you into very hot water if you have not allowed yourself enough time for it to clear the system.
The Guardia Civil Traffico have a zero tolerance now on drink driving unlike the old days. We all remember those days seeing the Spanish drinking plenty of wine at lunchtime and then driving home. Not anymore. You will see lots of San Miguel 0/0 alcohol free beers being drunk at lunchtime now.
>>> When in the bar forget the car <<<
Spanish you will hear: Living in real Spain is one huge part of the retirement lifestyle (it is not all about park life), so why not let us help you in advance to understand a few words that the residents hear all the time when they venture into real Spain, which as you already know begins as soon as they leave the park.
For this month we are offering you a “that is enough” card. Imagine you are in a shop, any shop, and they are getting your tomatoes. Ice cream, bread rolls or whatever you have pointed to ready for you to take and you now want them to stop adding more. Easy, simply say “Está bien” pronounced es-tah bee-yen which translated means “that is fine” but in Spanish it also can mean “that is enough” in the situation described.
>>> The lifestyle is great so why not try and say a few words in Spanish? <<<
Finally: With the General Election in June we have focused this month’s newsletter on the lifestyle the parks offer by providing what we think is useful information about life here in Spain. This is because for many the General Election is simply a distraction as they plan their future. What the situation is like here in Spain is now much more important to them and there are many people right now planning a future in Spain following their fact-finding 4 day 3 night visit.
The good news is that we and the parks are here for them all the way. Our service does not stop until they are settled. To give you an idea, the current record for the number of emails we have dealt with for the one client from the first enquiry to the home and client arriving on the park so far is 653, and for sure that record will not be the same at the end of this year. E-mails are an essential part of our service. Information, reassurance, suggestions and of course arranging inspection visits is what they are all about. Even more so when designing a Park Lodge Home for a client. Lots of e-mails are needed out of necessity and we are all experts at writing e-mails.
To plan your park lifestyle visit, why not call us using our **free phone** Inspection Visit hotline number 0800 772 3980. Derick, Steve and Martin are here to take your call from 9am to 10pm UK time 7 days a week.
**free when using UK landlines**

BUYING A RESALE MOBILE HOME
The process is very easy. First choose from the homes on sale on our website, the homes you would like to view on a visit.
If a home ticks all the boxes during your visit you simply make a purchase request.
If the seller agrees to the sale we then arrange for a legal sales agreement to be drawn up and signed by all parties. This service costs just 200 Euros and it also includes a home check of the boiler, air-conditioning, cooker, fridge and freezer by the park engineers just prior to completion. Paying for this service takes the home off sale straight away.
A 10% deposit is then paid into a "Client Account" within 14 days and remains there until the completion date which will be on or before three months after an offer has been accepted. .
Just prior to the completion date the home is checked, we take possession of the home, and you will be advised to make the final payment to the seller. Once it is confirmed that the payment has been made the home is then yours.
No wonder resale mobile homes are so popular.
BUYING A NEW HOME
Buying a new mobile home or a custom-built Park Lodge Home is just as easy. It simply involves different processes. For UK manufactured mobile homes we recommend Willerby/BK Bluebird and Regal Leisure Homes.
Both manufacturers display show homes at various mobile home shows throughout the year, so you can always get to see the latest models. Regal Leisure also have the big advantage in that they are not far from Yeovil our UK base, which means we can easily arrange factory visits.
For Park Lodge Homes designed and built in Alicante it is a different process. Once a plot has been reserved you can start designing a home best suited to where it will be going. Where to put a French Door? Where the lounge should go? What view from the kitchen window?
To help you design your home we allocate a project manager to you. He will arrange a visit to the factory in Alicante so you can see for yourself all the choices you have. You can even start with a model already designed such as “The Windsor” and alter it to suit you.
No two Park Lodge Homes will look the same which means you can make the home into something special to you. You will also not be paying so much money to transport the home to the park as it will already be in Spain. This means more can be spent on the home itself.
New UK mobile home or custom built Park Lodge Home? The choice is yours after you have reserved your plot on either park. New homes require a 35% deposit and the balance paid once the home is ready to be transported.
WHY COSTA DIFFERENCE?
The name Costa Difference was chosen for a reason back in 2005. Costa as in Costa del Sol or Costa Blanca, and Difference because we want to show the difference between dedicated genuine residential mobile home parks and tourist camping sites that also allow mobile homes.
Making a difference is all down to being passionate in what we do. We are also working with park owners who share our passion. The result? We are showing two wonderful residential mobile home parks that are without doubt the best retirement parks that Spain has to offer.
Having chosen to represent residential parks only we are now tasked by the park owners to help people see for themselves if living in Spain is really for them. Spain does not suit everyone which is why that aspect of what we do is so important.
So where does our service start? We think that perhaps it has already started with you reading this and all the other information we have provided online. Maybe you now have some questions for us? If so please feel free to contact us and ask them.
Once you feel that you have found all the answers the next stage is to seriously think about coming on a visit to see a residential park and the lifestyle the residents enjoy.
On a short-dedicated visit you will have a golden opportunity to talk to residents you meet whilst on the park. Asking them questions at the time is a great idea because you will be hearing about their genuine experiences.
The Costa Difference way is very different. Our testimonials come from the residents themselves face to face. They have all gone through the same experiences. Started by asking questions, then came on a visit. After that it is back to the UK with plenty to think about.
If you do the same and moving to Spain becomes your dream, then we are going to be with you all the way.
There are many “Costa” companies on the internet selling everything to do with Spain but there is only ONE Costa Difference Mobile Homes in Spain. To find us again easily why not bookmark this page. We are at your service.

LATEST NEWS FROM SPAIN
Air-traffic controllers at Barcelona’s El Prat have announced a series of 24-hour strikes over the summer in an ongoing dispute over staff shortages.
The industrial action by workers from the air-traffic control centre at El Prat will begin on June 20th, a few days before the school holidays here in Spain and the summer holiday season really gets underway.
The dates of the 24-hour strikes have not been confirmed as yet but any action will affect flights in and out of El Prat plus flights to the Balearic Islands and airports on Spain’s eastern coast.
The strikes have been called by the Air-Traffic Controllers' Union (USCA) which is embroiled in an ongoing dispute over staffing levels.
USCA has repeatedly warned that there are an insufficient number of air traffic controllers to cover flight traffic forcing controllers to work overtime in order to provide cover.
