2018 starts with a bang. There are two sayings the team members hear a lot when showing the parks to visitors, “we wish we had done this sooner” having put off the idea of moving to Spain for a while, or “you only live once” when the excitement on seeing that there is a real chance of moving to Spain takes over.
During the first four weeks of this year we have seen online enquiries and brochure requests reach record levels and the enquiries we received covered every aspect of retiring to Spain. Day visitors to the parks also reached record levels in January as people enjoying a winter holiday here in Spain took the opportunity to have a day out with us collecting them from their hotel or apartment to show them what the parks are really like.
That said, if the enquires and visits continue at the same levels as January throughout the year then 2018 will be the year of “you only live once” as far as we are concerned. The team members (who are residents on the parks) are in for a very enjoyable year it seems meeting lots of people and answering lots of questions as they walk around the parks.

Regal Leisure Homes: UK Manufacturers Regal Leisure Homes are based in Dorset in the UK which means it is very easy for us to arrange factory visits as Derick (the pale member of the team) is situated in Somerset.
Visiting the parks in Spain is as always the first step of course, but it is nice to know you have options when it comes to UK manufactured homes. On a factory visit you can get a lot of questions answered as well as see the quality for yourself.
The Elegance model is going to be the next new UK model show home later this year and anyone reserving it in advance of its arrival will benefit from the £2500 show home discount they would have received if it was already on the park. What is the home like?

Park Lodge Homes: This coming month Paradise Park will take delivery of a 41 x 13 two bedroom, two bathroom custom built Windsor Park Lodge show home. The building of show homes to go onto the parks has been a huge success in 2017. On Park La Posada we sold two Windsor Park Lodge homes in the last 6 months. During a park visit clients were able to see the build quality for themselves and of course have explained to them what makes these homes so different.
A great example of what we mean is the chassis. Built as one solid unit welded together rather than bolted together means it can easily take all the extra weight that comes with a Park Lodge Home. Solid insulated walls and real wooden doors all add to the weight of the home.
Add to that real ceramic tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms and it is easy to see why Park Lodge homes weigh between 10 and 14 tons compared to UK homes weighing 5 to 7 tons. Park Lodge Homes are built using standard building materials. They are built to be transported and installed one time only unlike a UK mobile home which is easily transportable.

Relocate your own home: 2018 has also seen a big rise in people thinking of moving their existing mobile home off the park it is on in the UK and onto a park in Spain. Even more so if the home is on a park that is not open all year round unlike the parks in Spain.
There are very few parks in Spain (or companies for that matter) willing to arrange and accept a relocated mobile home these days. Fortunately, we can still offer clients Paradise Park near Alicante on the Costa Blanca and Corrales Park in Andalucia on the Costa del Sol to clients wishing to relocate their existing home.
There are some conditions to relocating a home to Spain however. Firstly, the home must not be more than 5 years old and a quality home in terms of size and model. Next up is that the home must be disconnected and moved to a location on or near the park it is on in the UK, so it can be easily loaded. The park in the UK usually deals with this.
Costs involved after that depends on several factors, the size of the home, the location of the home in the UK plus which park the home is to go on. On Corrales Park they charge 2500 Euros entrance and installation and on Paradise Park it is 4000 Euros. A rough guide to transport a home from the UK to the park in Spain (until all the facts are known) is between £7500 and £9000 for homes that do not exceed 13 foot in width and between £9000 and £17,000 for wider homes and twin units.

Posada FM: John Little, a Park La Posada resident and a valued team member, set up and runs the park’s very own internet radio station Posada FM. Apart from playing some great music he also gives an insight into the community spirit that exists on the park. With 134 homes on the park there are a lot of people tuning in every day and even more so when they are away from the park visiting friends and family in the UK. It is then their way of keeping in touch with what is going on.

Ex-Pat: Resident Patrick otherwise known as Ex-Pat on the park had a slight accident in his car the other day when he reversed into a concrete bollard in Mercadona (a Spanish supermarket chain like Tesco) carpark. It was a classic case of not using the mirrors properly and it was also lucky he was going slowly which meant the damage was not serious and of course the bollard showed no sign of the encounter except a trace of red paint from Ex-Pats wheel arch.
Without delay he then went to the local Seat dealership to buy a can of spray paint and as luck would have it they had one can left in his colour. Once he was back at his car in their car park he had an idea. In the boot he had a tin of T-Cut and a cloth so moments later he had gone over the damage and all it needed was a quick spray of paint. After shaking the can for the required length of time he then quickly sprayed over the exposed paintwork. Within seconds the damage was not to be seen.
Feeling very smug he then got into the car and drove back to the park. Once there he opened the boot to unload his shopping and took a sneak look at where the damage had been. Horrified he saw loads of flies stuck to the new paintwork simply because he had not waited for the paint to dry. His day was then complete when Eric walked past, saw all the flies stuck to his car and asked, “what happened to your car Ex-Pat?”
As the saying goes “the truth is always out there”.

Finally: 2017 would not have been the year it was for us without the team members living on the parks themselves. They have been fantastic throughout. Being residents, they are showing visitors the parks driven by pride in their chosen park and not by sales targets, and that makes a huge difference.
All the new residents on the parks in 2017 were shown the parks in a relaxed way, had all their questions answered during their visit and only decided to pursue the idea further once they had returned to the UK and had given the matter a lot of thought.
Because of the huge increase in enquiries we are experiencing we hope that more residents fancy the idea of becoming occasional team members to help us show visitors the parks and any homes the visitor would like to see. Team members get to cover day visits where the visitor makes his own way to the park, coastal collection visits where they collect the visitor from their holiday hotel or apartment or a full blown four-day three-night visit involving airport and hotel collections.

BUYING A RESALE MOBILE HOME
The process is very easy. First choose from the homes on sale on our website, the homes you would like to view on a visit.
If a home ticks all the boxes during your visit you simply make a purchase request.
If the seller agrees to the sale we then arrange for a legal sales agreement to be drawn up and signed by all parties. This service costs just 200 Euros and it also includes a home check of the boiler, air-conditioning, cooker, fridge and freezer by the park engineers just prior to completion. Paying for this service takes the home off sale straight away.
A 10% deposit is then paid into a "Client Account" within 14 days and remains there until the completion date which will be on or before three months after an offer has been accepted. .
Just prior to the completion date the home is checked, we take possession of the home, and you will be advised to make the final payment to the seller. Once it is confirmed that the payment has been made the home is then yours.
No wonder resale mobile homes are so popular.
BUYING A NEW HOME
Buying a new mobile home or a custom-built Park Lodge Home is just as easy. It simply involves different processes. For UK manufactured mobile homes we recommend Willerby/BK Bluebird and Regal Leisure Homes.
Both manufacturers display show homes at various mobile home shows throughout the year, so you can always get to see the latest models. Regal Leisure also have the big advantage in that they are not far from Yeovil our UK base, which means we can easily arrange factory visits.
For Park Lodge Homes designed and built in Alicante it is a different process. Once a plot has been reserved you can start designing a home best suited to where it will be going. Where to put a French Door? Where the lounge should go? What view from the kitchen window?
To help you design your home we allocate a project manager to you. He will arrange a visit to the factory in Alicante so you can see for yourself all the choices you have. You can even start with a model already designed such as “The Windsor” and alter it to suit you.
No two Park Lodge Homes will look the same which means you can make the home into something special to you. You will also not be paying so much money to transport the home to the park as it will already be in Spain. This means more can be spent on the home itself.
New UK mobile home or custom built Park Lodge Home? The choice is yours after you have reserved your plot on either park. New homes require a 35% deposit and the balance paid once the home is ready to be transported.

LATEST NEWS FROM SPAIN
Ratings agency Moody's raised Spain's sovereign debt grade last week which reflects Spain's improving economy. They cited improved growth prospects and a stronger banking sector.
The upgrade reflects the steps the government had taken to address the weaknesses in the banking sector and the increasingly balanced growth profile, despite some remaining institutional weaknesses.
The agency moved the debt rating up one notch to the upper-medium investment grade Baa1 and said the rating outlook remained stable.
This decision follows similar moves by Fitch and S&P Global earlier this year. Spain was downgraded in 2012 by all major ratings agencies amid fears Madrid could require a bailout due to the weakness of its banks. That of course did not happen.
