The Home Fair Expo in Torremolinos: This is going to be the first year we will be sending team members to this exposition in Torremolinos on the Costa del Sol.
The reason we will be there this year is because Caravans in the Sun have asked us if we could assist them by representing the residential parks lifestyle on their stand. The idea is that we will be answering visitor’s questions all about retiring to Spain.
It made sense for us attend the show because we are after all specialists in that field only. We only represent residential parks and nothing else. Caravans in the Sun on the other hand are the biggest caravan/mobile home dealership in Europe with many different style parks in lots of countries.
We will be sending Steve, Martin, David and Lorraine to represent Costa Difference Ltd and the residential parks. If you are staying on the Costa del Sol over that weekend it will be a great opportunity to come and ask all the questions you may have regarding the park home lifestyle here in Spain.
The exposition runs from Friday the 7th of April until Sunday 9th of April 2017 and will take place in El Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Torremolinos. The fair will open its doors daily from 11 am to 19 pm.
If you would like a free ticket to come on either day we will gladly send you one. Just reply to this e-mail with FREE TICKET in the subject line and we will e-mail you your ticket. Each complimentary ticket allows 2 people to enter for FREE
If you have any problems finding us on the day you can contact Steve on 0034 670203495
>>> The team will be there to answer questions about retirement in Spain <<<
At last: It does not matter if you are pro Brexit or anti Brexit, you and millions of others will now have to endure at least two years of listening to everyone trying to take advantage during a period where nobody knows what the outcome will be for certain. Nicola Sturgeon will bang the Scottish Nationalists drum in favour of the EU and Tony Blair will be banging his gums as the “de facto pro-European expert” as he sees a possible return to frontline politics.
It will have to be the EU leaders however, who will need to be the ones to pull something out of the magic hat as they try to make a deal that is both acceptable to UK MP’s and looks like punishment for leaving.
That does not mean of course that Costa Difference Ltd is political in any way. Far from it, we hold no political views whatsoever. We are simply stating the obvious right now on the political scene following the PM triggering article 50 and no doubt that will change week by week as more politicians or ex-politicians think they can see a way to capitalise on events.
That said, we do have our very own take on how to handle Brexit. The Costa Difference way. Simply put, retire to Spain within the next two years and get registered as a resident in Spain. “Se hace” as they say in Spain. We are the only UK company in Spain to represent nothing but residential parks and for that reason Brexit does not play any part in what we do or what we are showing.
By only representing residential retirement parks it allows us the luxury of putting Brexit in its place. Short term currency exchange fluctuations whilst waiting two years for hard facts is on the cards. Today however the Pound is looking very good at 1.16 so the markets no longer fear Brexit it seems.
For us now once we register a client as resident in Spain all we need do is wait for the reciprocal health care arrangements between Spain and the UK to be confirmed as continuing as part of the divorce from the EU (it is already in place) and that is it, Brexit done and dusted.
For the UK not to continue with reciprocal health care with Spain post Brexit will be seen as crazy because it is already in place with Turkey and that is a country that is not in the EU. The EU will want full health care for their citizens who will be living in the UK as well.
Once you have been issued a resident’s card here in Spain (and the Brexit process will not affect you getting one) you can then do what everyone else will probably be doing, hit the mute button when watching the evening news until a real news story other than Brexit is mentioned. Sooner or later Donald Trump will return to making the headline news. Leave the Brexit scare mongering to everyone else as you pour a nice glass of Rioja wine costing 3 Euros a bottle to go with dinner at 9pm outside on your decking.
>>> Residents cards are issued to all with the same conditions <<<
Banking: Not a problem in any shape or form. Euros or Pounds and all down to Transferwise and other websites like them. It makes switching money so easy and you only need to transfer money when you want to because it all happens the same day. Once you have moved to Spain opening a Spanish bank is so easy once the registration process is complete and on Park La Posada all that is done for you free of charge.
For Halifax clients thinking of moving to Spain it gets even better as they have a credit card called “The Clarity” which gives you the full interbank exchange rate on the day on any purchase with no sneaky transaction fee attached. Other credit cards sting you on the exchange rate as well as charging a fee to use the card.
The local Spanish banks near the parks speak English so language is not a problem. Like the UK banks however their interest rates on offer are lower than a centipede’s belly which means they will be offering nothing to savers.
The savings for pensioners will come from the lifestyle to be enjoyed here in Spain. Your pension goes further in Spain as so much is cheaper than in the UK. Petrol is but one prime example. If your spending habits allows you to make a 10% saving on your living costs by living in Spain over living in the UK that is 20 times more than what the banks are offering right now in interest. Not to mention the much better weather and enjoyable way of life.
>>> Banks know how to make money, we know how to save it <<<
Ex-Pat: Patrick otherwise known as Ex-Pat on the park was in the very Spanish hotel right next door to the park the other day having some tapas for lunch with friends. It all changed however when a Spanish person came up to him and started talking to him like a long-lost friend in rapid Spanish. The waitress who spoke a little English was close by and understood that the Spaniard clearly had the wrong person in mind.
Without any delay, she butted in telling the man in rapid Spanish that he was talking to a resident from the residential park who was in fact English. Imagine the scene now, Ex-Pat did not understand a single word they were saying between them (talking rapidly was a real understatement) and by this time was stood with his mouth wide open wondering what the hell he had done wrong to the man to upset him so much and why the waitress was now getting involved.
Imagine his surprise however when the man (after being told by the waitress that he was talking to an Englishman and not a Spaniard) then spoke to him in perfect English to apologise. It turned out that Ex-Pat looked exactly like a friend he once had in Girona and a friend last seen at least 15 years ago. Ex-Pat explained he had no idea where Girona was but was glad to know that there was a second person on this planet as good looking as himself.
We can now tell the world that Sebastián (that was the man’s name) fell about laughing at Ex-Pats vanity and insisted on buying everyone sat at the table a drink to go with their meal, not just one but several. Every time after that he would shout “drinks on me” at the waitress when fresh ones were ordered. Ex-Pat is now looking into his family history to see if there is a distant relative who is Spanish.
>>> Now you can also follow Ex-Pat on Twitter. Can you find him?<<<
Spanish you will hear: Living in real Spain is one huge part of the retirement lifestyle (it is not all about park life), so why not let us help you in advance to understand a few words that the residents hear all the time when they venture into real Spain, which as you already know begins as soon as they leave the park.
The phrase this month is one you might hear in the market and it will be said in jest. We like adding fun to the everyday Spanish phrases now and again because fun Spanish is all part of life here.
So, imagine you are in the local weekly market haggling over the price for something (not something we British are good at) and you are offering a price well below what is being advertised. You might hear the vendor say “Viven en las nubes” prounounced “bee ben eN lass Noo bess”. Strictly translated it means “they live in the clouds” but for the example given it can be taken as simply “dream on!” which of course means you will not be getting anything at the price you are suggesting.
>>> The lifestyle is great so why not try and say a few words in Spanish? <<<

BUYING A RESALE MOBILE HOME
The process is very easy. First choose from the homes on sale on our website, the homes you would like to view on a visit.
If a home ticks all the boxes during your visit you simply make a purchase request.
If the seller agrees to the sale we then arrange for a legal sales agreement to be drawn up and signed by all parties. This service costs just 200 Euros and it also includes a home check of the boiler, air-conditioning, cooker, fridge and freezer by the park engineers just prior to completion. Paying for this service takes the home off sale straight away.
A 10% deposit is then paid into a "Client Account" within 14 days and remains there until the completion date which will be on or before three months after an offer has been accepted. .
Just prior to the completion date the home is checked, we take possession of the home, and you will be advised to make the final payment to the seller. Once it is confirmed that the payment has been made the home is then yours.
No wonder resale mobile homes are so popular.
BUYING A NEW HOME
Buying a new mobile home or a custom-built Park Lodge Home is just as easy. It simply involves different processes. For UK manufactured mobile homes we recommend Willerby/BK Bluebird and Regal Leisure Homes.
Both manufacturers display show homes at various mobile home shows throughout the year, so you can always get to see the latest models. Regal Leisure also have the big advantage in that they are not far from Yeovil our UK base, which means we can easily arrange factory visits.
For Park Lodge Homes designed and built in Alicante it is a different process. Once a plot has been reserved you can start designing a home best suited to where it will be going. Where to put a French Door? Where the lounge should go? What view from the kitchen window?
To help you design your home we allocate a project manager to you. He will arrange a visit to the factory in Alicante so you can see for yourself all the choices you have. You can even start with a model already designed such as “The Windsor” and alter it to suit you.
No two Park Lodge Homes will look the same which means you can make the home into something special to you. You will also not be paying so much money to transport the home to the park as it will already be in Spain. This means more can be spent on the home itself.
New UK mobile home or custom built Park Lodge Home? The choice is yours after you have reserved your plot on either park. New homes require a 35% deposit and the balance paid once the home is ready to be transported.
WHY COSTA DIFFERENCE?
The name Costa Difference was chosen for a reason back in 2005. Costa as in Costa del Sol or Costa Blanca, and Difference because we want to show the difference between dedicated genuine residential mobile home parks and tourist camping sites that also allow mobile homes.
Making a difference is all down to being passionate in what we do. We are also working with park owners who share our passion. The result? We are showing two wonderful residential mobile home parks that are without doubt the best retirement parks that Spain has to offer.
Having chosen to represent residential parks only we are now tasked by the park owners to help people see for themselves if living in Spain is really for them. Spain does not suit everyone which is why that aspect of what we do is so important.
So where does our service start? We think that perhaps it has already started with you reading this and all the other information we have provided online. Maybe you now have some questions for us? If so please feel free to contact us and ask them.
Once you feel that you have found all the answers the next stage is to seriously think about coming on a visit to see a residential park and the lifestyle the residents enjoy.
On a short-dedicated visit you will have a golden opportunity to talk to residents you meet whilst on the park. Asking them questions at the time is a great idea because you will be hearing about their genuine experiences.
The Costa Difference way is very different. Our testimonials come from the residents themselves face to face. They have all gone through the same experiences. Started by asking questions, then came on a visit. After that it is back to the UK with plenty to think about.
If you do the same and moving to Spain becomes your dream, then we are going to be with you all the way.
There are many “Costa” companies on the internet selling everything to do with Spain but there is only ONE Costa Difference Mobile Homes in Spain. To find us again easily why not bookmark this page. We are at your service.

LATEST NEWS FROM SPAIN
A Spanish woman from Rioja, who is a teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida, has described her ‘nightmare’ in being caught up in the shooting rampage with students.
Patricia Rivas was with a class of five pupils when 19-year-old gunman Nikolas Cruz entered the school grounds and opening fire with an assault rifle, eventually killing 17 people.
The teacher heard the fire alarm which was a trick by the gunman to bring more people out into range. She was about to leave the class when she heard a fellow member of staff shout “Code Red”, it was then that she realised something more sinister was going on.
"I heard 'Code Red Code Red' and in that moment reacted very quickly, we started to run to safety," she told RTVE in an interview.
She followed the protocol put in place by the school for such an event and returned her pupils to the classroom where she thought it safer for them. They then all hid in a store room.
She and her pupils remained quietly in the storeroom for around an hour, watching live TV coverage of events at the school on her mobile phone.
Her quick thinking ensured her pupils remained safe.
