Team news: The Costa Difference team in Spain grew in numbers in March with three new team members. We welcomed on board Eduardo Abenoza as the coordinator for Paradise Park as well as being our project manager for the brand new Park Lodge Homes “The County” range. (more details below).

We also welcomed Hilary Lees and Wendy Ham who take on the role of Paradise Park ambassadors. Their role is to look after the one day visitors to the park as well as conduct the four day/three night dedicated visits to the park and area.

With three new team members in place we can now offer two types of four day visits. One flying into Malaga to see Park La Posada and one flying into Alicante to see Paradise Park. All four day visits only cost £79 per person and include airport transfers and three nights’ hotel accommodation. Telephone 0800 772 3980 for more details.

More exciting news. March is also the month when we at Costa Difference Ltd resumed designing Park Lodge Homes again. Our last Park Lodge Home was designed and custom built back in 2008.

The new range of Park Lodges will be based on a brand new 38 x 14 chassis design and there will be 25 different models based on how clients want their homes built. The new range will be called “The County Range” named after chosen counties in the UK

This is very exciting for us because we can now offer clients the full range of Mobile Homes built by Willerby Homes in the UK starting at only £33,237, as well as a new range of custom built Park Lodge Homes built in Spain starting at only £45,000

Our in-house design team will now be working with Eduardo, who in turn as the project manager, will be working with the clients as they decide exactly how they want their new Park Lodge Home built.

What is a Park Lodge Home? The easiest answer is that it is a mobile version of a custom built timber Villa. It is designed and built from the floor up. The chassis is simply there so that it can be transported and installed on any park or location easily. Once installed it is there for life. It becomes a Lodge.

The Park Lodge Homes are really special. For the flooring inside there are 24 different wood laminate designs to choose from. The doors within the home are full size normal wooden doors and the UPVC double glazed windows are also full size made by Gealan and can be with or without shutters.

Inside the Park Lodge Home there are even more choices. There are 30 different wall unit and wardrobe timber colours, there are 10 types of marble kitchen worktops, plus 7 different colour slate tiles for the bathrooms.

For the internal walls there are 30 different colours and a whopping 120 colours for the outside walls. The Park Lodge Home can also be built to any design thanks to the team we have in place. You can choose between a one bed, two bed or three bed. It can have one bathroom with an en-suite in the master, or two full size bathrooms. It can have an end lounge with French Doors or a centre lounge with a bedroom each end.

Because of all the choices you have it was important that we had an experienced project manager to guide clients through the design process as well as keeping them informed as their home is being built. The experience Eduardo has in working with our design team and clients means we have that role covered completely.

The two parks visit: As regular newsletter readers know last month we had our first ever two parks visit (La Posada and Paradise Park) and what fun it was for those who endured the full on five-day visit to Spain. The actual visits to the parks and area went exactly as planned, although the journey between the two parks will need to be split up with overnight stays if we ever do a second one. The journey between the parks takes four and a half hours.

We say the actual visits went as planned for a reason. They did. However, not everything went exactly to plan it seems. First Martin went down with a heavy cold on day one (having just returned from the UK) and spent the whole five days sneezing.

The next thing to go wrong it seems was all down to “Doris” the SatNav being used for the journey. Having taken the group off the E15 motorway at the wrong turning for the town of Albatera, she gave the instruction “make a U turn”.

With nothing coming in either direction Martin did as he was told and soon they were once again on the right road and just moments away from entering the town of Albatera itself. Paradise Park, their destination, is situated at the far end of the town. Peace and quiet however was soon shattered with short burst of the siren from a Guardia Civil traffic car behind.

Martin did as instructed and pulled over. It turned out that the reason they were stopped was because when Martin did the U turn he crossed over a faded solid white line in the middle of the road. No one saw it of course except the two Policemen who were parked up nearby. Needless to say Martin played the “I am very sorry” card in English (in the hope he is let off as a tourist) but soon saw that he was not going to get so much as a flicker of sympathy. The result? A 100 Euro fine (no points) and one more item to add to this month’s newsletter.

As for the overall response to the 5 day two park visit as a whole, everyone who came have said how much they enjoyed themselves and how informative it was. Seeing both parks at the same time they felt was well worth doing. For us that means the visit itself was a huge success. As for Martin’s opinion on how the 2 park visit went, he now has one hundred reasons why he should never listen to Doris again.

Retirement park news: The news from Park La Posada is that they only have 3 plots left for new homesnow. This comes on the back of 6 plots being reserved within the last month. Coming soon to Park La Posada will be a two Willerby Aspens, a Willerby Linear and a Willerby Brockenhurst. In the pipeline after that will be a Willerby Granada and a Willerby Skyline. The Victory Cordial is also sold on a chosen plot.

On Paradise Park there is also great excitement. The launch of their new full size residents swimming pool on phase two is to be the feature on their open day on Saturday 16th of April. The open day celebrations are where residents and visitors all get to enjoy each other’s’ company as well as all the food and drink that Manuel the owner lays on. Paella is his speciality and cooking for 50+ is very easy for him. In the past the open days have been great fun for everyone.

To come and take part in the Paradise Park open day simply let us know and we will make the arrangements. It can be as part of a holiday in the area or on a dedicated £79 4-day visit. If looking for flights, you will need to arrive in Alicante in Spain before the 16th of April. Martin and Steve will also be attending so please bring all your questions with you.

Spanish you will hear: Living in real Spain is one huge part of the retirement lifestyle (it is not all about park life), so why not let us help you in advance to understand a few words that the residents hear all the time when they venture into real Spain, which as you already know begins as soon as they leave the park.

The phrase this month is ¿Estas abierto? Are you open? pronounced “ES STAS ABI AIR TOE”
This comes in handy if you enter a bar or shop that looks like it is about to close. If it is about to close, they will reply “no” and you will know it is time to leave. If it is not about to close however, they will reply “si” and welcome you with open arms. Two simple words will remove all doubt.

Finally: Last month we offered 5 free tickets to the Lawns Caravan show in September. To enter the draw, you had to answer the following question. Q/ If you put the name of a US state capital before a certain Willerby mobile home model you will get the name of a music album released in 1969. What is the name of the artist who recorded it?

The answer was Bob Dylan with the April 1969 album Nashville Skyline. Congratulations to all the winners (Tony, Kay, Anthony, and Ian) who have now been informed. They will be sent their free tickets nearer the time.

This month we will once again be giving away 5 more free tickets to the Lawns Caravan Show near Hull on the 3rd and 4th of September. To enter the draw, you will need to answer the following question.

Q/ If you put the name of a Willerby model mobile home in front of “a low area of land between hills or mountains, typically with a river or stream flowing through it” you will find it is the location for a golf course, a ski resort and a spa resort, all in the same place. What country would you be in?

Good luck. The answer will be in next month’s newsletter
